Corporate Social Responsibility
Corporate social responsibility (CSR) integrates social and environmental concerns into an organisation’s business operations and in their interaction with stakeholders to address broader societal needs. Through CSR, companies can help to reconcile economic, social and environmental priorities. An increasingly important concept both globally and within the EU, CSR reflects the need to defend common values and increase the sense of solidarity and cohesion. CSR has a more significant relevance in the context economic crisis and has a role to play in. building trust in business - vital for the health of Europe's social market economy. CSR is part of the Europe 2020 strategy for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth.
At Espion the commitment to our Corporate Social Responsibility programme is based on the premise that we have a duty of care to the world around us. We therefore conduct our business activities in an economically, socially and environmentally responsible manner. By taking a proactive role in the local, national and global environments we live in, we can leverage the resources available to us to have a positive and lasting influence in the world we live in.
Being a responsible enterprise is crucial to our continued success. We have collaborated with many of the Ireland’s and UK’s largest organisations, earning trust through our commitment and working practice. Difficult to earn but easily lost we will never take this trust for granted, and will work to build on it at every opportunity.
Business Conduct
All employees adhere to a standard code, particularly when working on client site. This code of conduct is our way of articulating our responsibilities, obligations and the way we conduct business.
Human Resources
We have a strong and robust People Strategy. Whether in the office or out in the field, our knowledge management system allows all staff to have access to best practice, drawn from the knowledge and experience we have all gained from working with others.
Environmental
We are introducing environmentally friendly selection criteria to outsourced products and are extending our current recycling policy to include a wider range of materials. We are committed to increasing the awareness of the company’s existing environmental policies.
Community
We look to give our custom to local businesses and support a number of local charities and sports clubs.
Supply Chain
Where possible we purchase supplies from ethical sources as a visible contribution to the wider community.
Our current policies
- Behave with honesty and integrity in all activities and relationships with others
- Minimise carbon emissions from business travel by avoiding unnecessary travel
- Support Irish universities through providing undergraduate placements and graduate employment
- Use electronic tendering sites
- Purchase environmentally friendly consumables where applicable
- Support the principles of fair trade in purchase of fair trade products where possible
- Use energy efficient light bulbs where possible
- Recycle paper, cardboard, metal and plastic
- Recycle printer cartridges & toners
- Use 80/20 recycled paper and envelopes
- Data destruction and recycling of computers according to industry regulations
- Support local businesses through purchase of consumables
- Make an annual donation to a local and national charity
- Provide support to those staff wishing to undertake voluntary or charitable activities
